Tara Speaks
Tara is a dedicated Licensed Addiction Counselor Candidate who earned her Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University–Pueblo and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. Her work is grounded in strong clinical training and lived experience, allowing her to meet clients with compassion, authenticity, and deep understanding.
As a woman in long-term recovery from alcohol and a proud mother of three, Tara knows firsthand that healing is not linear and is built through courage, consistency, and self-compassion. She brings this truth into every session, creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to grow one step at a time.
Tara has experience working with individuals facing complex mental health challenges, including co-occurring substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, and severe and persistent mental illness. She holds a special passion for supporting individuals who are justice-involved or transitioning from incarceration, believing that no past mistake should define a person’s future. Everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild, rediscover their worth, and create a meaningful life.
Her professional background spans mental health and substance use treatment across a variety of settings. Tara uses a person-centered, strengths-based approach and integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. She is also certified in Brain Synchronization Therapy, supporting deeper emotional regulation and self-awareness.
At the heart of Tara’s work is a belief in each client’s capacity for change. She helps individuals uncover their “why,” strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with their values and purpose. Her goal is not only to support healing, but to help clients step into lives filled with hope, confidence, and possibility.
Outside of work, Tara finds joy in supporting her children at their activities, traveling, exploring new cultures, and trying new foods. These experiences continue to shape her appreciation for growth, connection, and the beauty of transformation.
